Madeleine Marie LeMieux is an artist involved in a variety of
mediums and practices including administration for arts organizations. Her artistic passions are painting, drawing, wood burning, origami, cooking and sewing. She received her BFA with an emphasis in Art History, Theory and Criticism from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007 and her MA in Visual Arts Administration at New York University in 2011.
Madeleine has a unique history of experience which includes owning and managing her own apartment gallery while still obtaining her undergraduate degree, designing youth arts programming and developing innovative fundraising strategies. Individual art projects include a temporary mural at Essex Inn in Chicago for the Field Museum Tutankhamen exhibition in 2006, a portable mural for Benton House in Chicago in 2007 and a number of exhibitions with Parts and Labor collective in Chicago from 2007 – 2009.
Since 2010, Madeleine has worked for Groundswell Community Mural Project as a Development and Communications Associate. Groundswell is a nonprofit organization which brings professional artists, youth and community organizations together to create large scale, socially engaging public art works, throughout New York City.
Her ultimate goal is to start a nonprofit organization that will provide artists, community members and youth with the space and the resources for artistic experimentation and proactive professional development.
