2 cans of whole water chestnuts
2 packages of preferred bacon
½ cup of water
1 cup of balsamic vinegar
½ cup of brown sugar

Preamble
This hors derve is always the first to disappear at a party. I can never seem to make enough. It’s simple to make, super savory and fun to eat. Enough said.
Preparation
Remove the bacon from its plastic and wrap it in paper towels. If the bacon is frozen use a few extra paper towels and cook for an extra minute.
Place wrapped bacon on plate and cook in microwave for 2-3 minutes or until it is soft cooked.
Set aside to cool.
Strain the cans of water chestnuts and place a baking sheet on a flat surface.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Wrap each water chestnut in a single piece of bacon and hold together with a toothpick.
Place on the baking sheet.
Repeat until baking sheet is full or bacon/water chestnuts are gone.
Put baking sheet in oven for approximately 20 min.
While bacon wrapped chestnuts are baking, combine balsamic, brown sugar and water in a large frying pan.
Turn on a high heat and constantly whisk while mixture boils.
Continue to boil for 5-10 minutes until mixture begins to thicken.
Then turn off heat and let sit. This will continue to thicken into black syrup.
Once the bacon is crispy on the outside, pull the wrapped water chestnuts from the oven and immediately drizzle with the syrup.
Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
